Irrespective of whether the fuel storage is a subterranean tank, a mobile bowser, or perhaps numerous containers in a storage shed, if we are able to get to it, we can empty it for you.

AdBlue In your Fuel

In Cheshire we are finding progressively more cases of AdBlue contamination whereby a driver has put AdBlue directly into their diesel fuel tank. This is mainly as a consequence of drivers not understanding how to to make use of (be aware: it's not a fuel additive), and partially due to the fact that the inlets for diesel and AdBlue are often directly near to one another on the car.

So, what is the trouble with putting AdBlue in a diesel tank?

Seeing that the product is mostly deionised water, it's almost the same as putting water in to your tank. Diesel and water do not blend in any way and attempting to run a diesel car on water cannot work. Additionally, the urea is fairly corrosive to the fuel system lines and seals and is susceptible to crystallisation, blocking injectors and fuel filters. In the event that you have put AdBlue in a fuel tank get it out as soon as possible. And most definitely take care not to turn over the motor - not even to shift it into a parking bay. In case you did start the vehicle you will likely have to have the complete fuel system flushed and fuel filters changed.

Should you get in this scenario don’t fret or panic! Contact us, the UK’s Number 1 fuel contamination service. Our engineers possess the technical know-how and working experience to get you back on the road promptly and efficiently, no mess, no hassle.

Wrong Fuel in Car in CH65 Postcode - Whitby Misfueling

Just had a good night of uninterrupted sleep! 7:30 am on a warm Wednesday and we were on the way to help an older woman after she put the wrong fuel in her diesel stylish Suzuki Swift in Whitby. I'd been told she had driven away from the petrol station and pulled up along a rural lane along the way to visit her godchildren. I plugged the location in the TomTom and was with her in less than an hour or so. I reached the stricken lady and extracted the wrong fuel in the car vehicle. Whilst I was working she told me, "Now I'm becoming quite absent-minded in my old age and did not remember about the car working with diesel seeing that I had only just bought it a short while ago because my previous one, which I'd used for in excess of twenty years, inevitably died on me". I completed the drain and she gave me a peppermint and thanked me for my hard work. Such a precious Cheshire woman!

How to find out if I put the wrong fuel in my car?

If you’ve just filled up at a petrol station and the cars starts to act a bit strange you might start to wonder if you accidentally put the wrong fuel in it.

Well, there are a few things to can check that will be able to tell you:

  1. How is the car responding? There are some very common misfuel symptoms which can be a good indicator of wrong fuel:
    • Loss of engine power – can feel like the car has run out of fuel
    • A lot of smoke (more than usual)
    • Engine coughing or starting to splutter
    • Won’t start – or keeps stalling.
  2. Look at your fuel receipt. It will state clearly if you filled up with diesel or unleaded. If you don’t have the receipt, you can often return to the petrol station where you filled up and give them the date and time (and pump) where you refueled and they will often be able to give you a VAT receipt.
  3. Smell it. Diesel and petrol have very distinctly different smells. Anyone familiar with the motor industry should be able to help you with this. Or you could even get another car to park alongside and smell the fuel caps of both, comparing them to determine what the fuel type is.
  4. Call us to come out and assess the car. In the majority of cases we will be able to tell if the car has been misfueled before beginning work on it. If we discover that the vehicle does not need a fuel drain, you will only be charged a call-out fee.
